A great old C. S. Bell multipurpose cast iron grinder, referred to as a burr mill. Three sizes were made, #1, #2, & #3, this being a number 1. Note the makers mark, (lazy IC) in the first photo. Charles Singleton Bell went into the foundry business in 1858 in Hillsboro Ohio manufacturing what Americans needed most around the house at that time.

I have recently purchased a Letz model 80 series a burr mill and would like to find printed info on it (parts, operation and service).
By far, the 2 1/2hp Economy ran it the best. It is my belief that it was the correct engine speed along with right pulley size on the engine to power the mill. I could fill a 5 gal bucket of cracked corn in ~10 minutes. The 4hp Appleton would do a little better time wise, but the mill was running faster than I wanted.
