Posted: 10 May 2019 at 5:22pm. My 170 gas won't start. Cranks over fine and just tuned up last year. Other than coil. We checked it out and it seems to have a little spark but not a full spark. Replaced the coil the little wire from coil to inside of distributor but didn't gain any more spark. Also got new cap and rotor along with condenser.

The C has three non machined splines, and I have not looked at the CA steering arm to determine if they are the same. If they are different, the arm will have to come off of a model CA also. The CA has a shorter steering tube. The modle C can be cut to the length of the CA steering tube.

Its always easier on the engine especially if you go to the three wire setup. Most one wire Alternators need 1200-1400 rpm in order to "excite" the regulator in a one wire to start the changing process. With a three wire setup, 400-450 rpm is all you need and the Alt is already charging. No revving of the engine.
